The BlackRock Strategic Initiatives Group within Global Fund Accounting Services is responsible for optimizing BlackRock’s post-trade operating models across all fund administrators and custodians. The team also partners with BlackRock’s Business Operations Systems Group (BOES), BlackRock Platform Innovation (BPI), and Aladdin Portfolio Services (APS) to implement native Aladdin solutions and streamline existing operational processes. Operational processes within the team’s purview are Fund Accounting, Custody Operations, Securities Lending, Transfer Agency, Client Order Management, Reconciliation, Cash Operations, Financial Reporting, Securities Pricing, Product Tax, among others. The San Francisco Strategic Initiatives team is seeking a highly motivated professional to support a large-scale conversion between administrators, including creating development specifications with internal teams and third party administrators, beta testing new Aladdin systems developments, analyzing various data sets between providers and platforms, and participating in key workstream initiatives. We are looking for an individual who is pro-active, flexible, and capable of creative problem solving, with a high tolerance for ambiguity. This individual needs to be comfortable working in a team setting and collaborating with a variety of team members with differing viewpoints and goals. Additionally, the candidate should possess solid communication skills and the ability to influence others within and outside of the organization. Given the broad scope of the team, the individual needs to be willing to quickly become a generalist in all post-trade operational functions. The ability to manage multiple deadlines and deliverables running concurrently is also beneficial.

Responsibilities:

  • Support senior staff through the analysis of various data sets.

  • Coordinate and facilitate sub-workstream meetings for impacted stakeholders.

  • Test new Aladdin functionality against existing or legacy technologies.

  • Create testing plans for upcoming Aladdin releases.

  • Coordinate recurring meetings for the broader GFAS teams.

  • Support production teams with upcoming and in-flight conversion initiatives.

  • Create monthly management reporting for senior management

  • Support critical projects and initiatives as they arise.

  • Serve as subject matter expert on available technology in specific use cases.

  • Leverage technology to create automated solutions for identified issues.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in business, accounting or finance.

  • 3 years of investment fund industry experience. Strong knowledge in fund accounting, investment process, security valuation, and fund expenses is required.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to engage and influence individuals or teams in a conversation or meeting.

  • Proven experience in managing operational process and controls.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities – ability to interact with all levels, including external service providers.

  • Strong project and time management skills, with ability to set, maintain, and adjust priorities in a multi-task environment.

  • Flexible to handle constantly changing responsibilities.

  • Strong prioritization and follow-through skills.

  • High degree of comfort with technology is required. SQL proficiency is recommended.

  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
