Within the Institutional Client Business (ICB), we pride ourselves on creating, communicating and delivering investment solutions for clients and consultants worldwide. To that end, we have teams of professionals with expertise in the many functions that combined make this effort successful and sustainable, including relationship management, marketing, sales, client service, and product development and investment management.
We serve institutional clients in more than 60 countries, including pension funds, foundations, endowments, official institutions, insurance companies, subadvisory relationships, and family offices.
The Global Consultant Relations (GCR) teams sits within ICB. GCR is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with global, regional and local consultants across all asset classes. Primarily based in the US and UK, the group is also represented in Japan, Asia and Australia.
GCR is seeking an experienced Alternatives marketing professional with deep expertise in and experience with Alternative investment strategies to develop and manage relationships with US institutional investment consultants. This includes marketing the best of BlackRock’s investment capabilities, but primarily focusing on hedge funds, to manager research and field consultants within the assigned firms, working with client account managers to develop new business and service shared clients, and developing relationships with key decision-makers within each firm. The successful candidate will be assigned a coverage universe and manage a team of people to develop optimal relationships between consulting firms and BlackRock. The Relationship Manager will collaborate with BlackRock’s Portfolio Management Group (PMG), client account teams, consultant support teams, and senior management to drive and protect business.
Develop and execute Alternatives business plans for each assigned firm, focusing on consulting firm needs, GCG priority products and shared client opportunities.
Exhibit deep knowledge of BlackRock’s Alternative investment capabilities, the market and the needs of assigned consulting firms and their clients.
Maintain regular dialogue on BlackRock’s investment capabilities with assigned firms
Serve as resource to consultants on markets, product development and trends
Develop deep partnerships with field consultants characterized by access and influence
Partner with PMG to develop/execute product specific marketing plans to consulting firms
Partner with Client Account Managers to drive new business/protect existing business
Oversee responses to incoming queries and opportunities
Track activities and maintain contact information in contact management system
Oversee meeting coordination and material preparation
Contribute to career development of other GCR team members
Skills & Qualifications
Strong understanding of Alternatives investment strategies and the institutional investment marketplace
8-10 years of experience marketing Alternative investment strategies, and working with institutional clients and/or consultants
BA/BS degree in related field – MBA/CFA highly desirable
Sales and revenue orientation and motivation
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated analytical ability
Organized and detail-oriented with strong time management skills and ability to prioritize
Has, or is willing to obtain, the series 7, 63, and 3 licenses
Effective team player; able to work with people of all levels
High level of self-motivation, with strong integrity & ethics
